Massacre Those Who Insult Islam! by ProcrastinatingStill Massacre Those Who Insult Islam! by ProcrastinatingStill
The title of this stamp comes from an infamous placard waved at the 2006 Danish embassy protest.

Anyway, I would like to point this out about Charlie Hebdo. They made fun of Jews, Catholics and Muslims. But Jews and Catholics haven't thrown riots and/or shot up buildings when something offended them. Muslims have done this numerous times.

Similarly, some Muslims threw a fit about South Park depicting Muhammad in "201"(Strangely, the uncensored depiction of Muhammad in "Super Best Friends" caused no protest). It should be noted that South Park has depicted Buddha snorting lines of coke. Have Buddhists shot up Comedy Central's headquarters? No they have not.

Yes, depiction of Muhammad is a crime in Islam but the United States, France, etc. are NOT Islamic countries. If you live in a western-style democracy, you are EXPECTED to adhere to the standards of a western-style democracy. Drawing Muhammad is ALLOWED in any society with free speech. Indeed there was a poll that stated that 40% of British Muslims interviewed wanted sharia in the U.K. If you want sharia then why the hell are you in a western democracy?

Also they don't just get offended by depictions of Muhammad. In 1999, some Muslims got upset about the gay Jesus play (Jesus is revered in Islam) and placed a bounty on the playwright. They were called "Muhajiroun" and they described themselves as "Defenders of the Messenger Jesus".

Of course, not all of these violent outrages were inspired by drawings of Muhammad. Some of them were in reaction to "Islamophobia" (Theo Van Gogh anyone?). It should be noted that none of those cases were Islamophobic (except for "Innocence of Muslims"). They were merely criticism of some of the practices of Islam.

Jews, Christians, women, homosexuals, Atheists, etc. are pretty much second-class citizens in many Muslim countries. If criticizing this is "Islamophobic", then criticizing Nazis is "Germanophobic".

If you don't like it when people call Islam a violent religion then stop making it LOOK like a violent religion. No more jihad. No more sharia. No more subjugation of women and homosexuals. No more stoning. No more fatwas. No more honor killings. No more suicide bombing. And most importantly, no more rioting and committing massacres because you're "offended".

Ok. You come to the countries in Europe and expect THEM to adhere to YOUR laws! I'm sorry, but Shariah Law isn't an all around thing and not for everyone, but if you want it SO bad go back to where you come from. And if you don't want to go back then you better follow the EUROPEAN laws.

If I were to draw Muhammad, there is no doubt that at least one Muslim would negatively comment on it. Or some pathetic apologist.

Like I said, I have great respect for good religious people. Likewise, some religious zealots who take their religious books and laws literally and try to spread those prehistoric philosophies. Those people I hate.

I have been struggling with this question because I try very hard not to judge people based on religion or ethnicity. That said, I am an atheist, and facts are facts. I have been starting to accept that any criticism of the horrific acts committed by one single group is not prejudicial if it is based on simple facts. So, yes, I agree with you. I know nothing of the rules here yet, but there was an interesting  television show here in the USA by Bill Maher this week that featured a diverse mix of people commenting on this same subject. I don't know if you saw it, but it made me rethink a few things...

Speaking as a Muslim, I totally agree with you.  They just have to deal with the fact that other people have different opinions and not everyone's going to agree with them.

The Charlie Hebdo shooting was a terrible case, but what is more terrible, it's the death dreats adressed to people (whatever if they live in the same country than me or not), some americans on Tumblr were seriously disgusting, even today, they are not forgiven.

I disagree. I see actual deaths as graver than death threats.

Also death threats from whom? Ayaan Hirsi Ali still receives death threats for criticizing Islam. As a matter of fact she has to have BODYGUARDS with her whenever she goes out in public. Interestingly, the "Piss Christ" guy did not receive any death threats from Christians.

It's not really banned in all versions of Islam either. Only Sunnis are (historically) against depictions of Islam, but then they killed Shia who did so Shia don't anymore either.

In the Quran there is nothing against it, but some Sunni Hadith written after Muhammad's death prohibit it.

Sharia Law is also not in the Quran and is contrived from a bunch of poorly written Hadith. They mention Sharia in the Quran, which is more or less the holy path people have to take, but enforcing it as a law makes absolutely no sense.

Shia allows depictions of Muhammad....as long as they aren't "offensive". So a Shia would also object to Charlie Hebdo too.

Apparently they think people will worship images of Muhammad if they are made. So it's basically anti-idoltry taken to the extremes.

Lot of things that weren't originally a part of Islam have been incorporated into Islam. Female "circumcision" is one of those things. Egypt tried to ban female "circumcision" because Muhammad condemned it, but other Muslims objected to the female "circumcision" ban because it was tradition and "if it's tradition, it must be Islamic". Because of that, female "circumcision" is still legal in Egypt. :/

Update: My bad. Female "circumcision" is illegal in Egypt and has been since 2008. That doesn't stop people there from doing it anyway because it's "tradition".

They would "object" to it, but Shia have more to worry about than a French dude drawing cartoons.

They are legitimately being oppressed for their religion and exterminated across the world by Sunni Muslims. Most Shia terrorism has been against Israel by Palestinians, and against Sunni Muslims, not against western targets. Shia clergy have declared suicide attacks to be haram.

The female circumcision stuff is pretty jacked up. There are so many things that have been added to the religion by Hadith. Some people estimate hundreds of thousands of hadith have been written and added to the faith, some advocating murder and genocide or legally justifying it.

They aren't just offended by "offensive" depictions of Muhammad. In '99 some Muslims placed a bounty on the head of the playwright who wrote that gay Jesus play (Jesus is second only to Muhammad in Islam).

Hmmm but you did not show an example of a Shia group doing that.

In the 1500s Sunni killed Shia in Turkey because they used Muhammad as an educational illustration in their Quran. There are some Sunni Hadith that prohibit the drawing of any living creature.

Well the mostly Shia Iran is killing homosexuals and has harsh anti-blasphemy laws. It's not just Sunni.

Yeah, Islam as a whole needs serious reform.

The only sects of Islam that I feel are the most peaceful are Sufi and Ahmadiyya. Of course this could be because they never had political power. Religion and politics are a volatile combination.

Yaa Iran has a pretty extreme form of Shia I'll agree but they are less radical than the Wahabbi Sunni who believe they can establish a divine godly caliphate on earth.

The fact Wahabbi Sunni believe that is possible makes them a threat.

That being said, 60 years ago in the UK they were castrating homosexuals including the famous cryptographer, computer scientist and computational linguist Alan Turing en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_T…

I don't see how the castration of one gay man based on Christian-based laws compares to the systematic slaughter of homosexuals in Islamic countries.

Know what ? The only thing I want to tell you is : THANK YOU SO MUCH ! Thank you because I think exactly the same. I'm a Catholic, and I am French. And I strongly believe this is our right to laugh about everything in a world where everything keeps on going bad.
I will never forget that 17 people of my country died because they believed in freedom, and that they carried on to draw even when Muslims were "offended".

How can a such horrible thing happen just because you're offended ?! I love and protect my family and hate when someone makes fun of them, but does that mean I am going to murder every single person that laugh about them ? Of course not ! Religions are like families, everyone might not agree on everything but if we all lived together with respect and don't try to say "MY God is better than YOUR God", then the world would be nothing more than heaven.

I appreciate your work, and I thank you again. Just because that shows that there is support outside my country.
